Happy New Year.
Omatransng is a consortium of
Businesses that focus more on Road Safety and Driver Training. Other areas we
participate in includes: Trading,Hospitality/Tourism,Technology and Fashion.
Our flagship Company, Omatrans
Consults Nigeria was registered in 1999 to handle capacity building and man
power development in the Transportation industry. Looking back after 18 years
we believe it is time to move to the next level.
Driver safety has always been in
our front burner when it comes to Transportation safety. It is pertinent to
note that many own account/Core account Road Transport operators don’t believe
in Driver safety/Training. Individuals as well that drive their own vehicles
too. This is very worrisome, the reason we still see Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs)
on our roads.
The Lead Agency on Road Safety
(FRSC) has tried in their own way to reduce the carnage that RTCs have caused
to our country vis-Ã -vis economy. But it is our conviction that a Road
Transport Commission be set up to manage and regulate the entire Road Transport
Industry holistically. However, that discussion is for another day.
In our own way, we have strived
and will continue striving to ensure our roads are safe. The human factor has
been attributed to causing about 85% of RTCs and as such we need to build
capacity there.
We don’t believe in coercion
to adhere to Road Safety tenets but rather persuasion, the reason
training has become important in ensuring the right personnel operate a
vehicle.
RTCs kill more than 1.3m lives
yearly and every 6s someone is being killed on our roads worldwide according to
the UN. The reason why the UN came up with the Decade of Action on Road Safety
2011-2020 to reduce those figures by half. But the question we will ask
ourselves is, have we really done well as a nation? We have just 2 more years
to see how far we can go as a country. Although the UN has been able to look
towards 2030 in accordance with the sustainable million goals (SDGs) to ensure
certain milestones are met.
At omatransng, we believe that
making our Roads safe is a collective action and not something to be left on
the Lead Agency alone. We must be seen to be working as partners and not in
suspicion.
So why SafeDriver1.0?
We realize some people are really
interested in learning how to drive safely but time, cost seems to be their
challenge. Not having the time to attend a physical training session while they
go about their various jobs/businesses on a daily basis. So to bridge the gap,
we came up with this first eCourse on safe driving, where every participant will
be able to go through a safe driver training without leaving their comfort
zone.
The delivery of this Training is
via email in the first instance. The modules that constitute the training will
be sent to all participants via email in pdf format and they in turn go through
each module and answer the questions attached to each module as a proof of
attendance. It is only after you have answered the questions satisfactorily
that the next module will be sent. This training can be done at your
convenience within 1 month since that’s the duration of the course. Also
each module comes with a Safety Moment as an appetizer before the main course.
A certificate will also be issued
to all participants who successfully complete all modules. To add spice to the
training, prizes are to be won by participants of each set. A set consist of
250 participants. Prizes will range from giving out omaFuel Vouchers (Free Car
wash, free car service, free pms, free shopping, Free Defensive Driver training
session, etc) and a weekend get-away at a luxurious Hotel with all expenses
paid for via our sister company Hop-Tou. Nigeria only.
It is our conviction that
training of everyone that drives on the road should be a priority and our
eCourse will certainly help to bridge that gap so our roads can be safe for
all. When everyone that drives have the same information when it comes to safe
driving our roads will be a lot safer. Note that this training is opened to all
both locally and internationally.
The cost of the training has been
lowered so anyone interested can participate. Also in the next 3 months, all
participants will pay half the cost of the training .
